Raising $14M – The kleene journey from Seed to Series A in 7 Months

Back in April 2021, we were thrilled to announce our $2m Seed funding round, led by Episode 1 and supported by the team at Superseed. Fast forward seven months and today, we’re delighted to have raised $14M Series A, in a round led by Octopus Ventures, bringing our total funding to $16M. 

The past seven months have been busy for the team at kleene.ai. During this time we have expanded our offering of integrations and developed new features. Not only have we evolved the app, our professional services offering has grown throughout 2021, now allowing businesses to fully implement their data infrastructure without internal resources. This has helped our journey to be the fastest way for businesses to implement their cloud data platform.

We have welcomed clients from a range of geographies, industries and sectors as we have expanded. Not only has our client list expanded, but our team too! We moved into a new office in the heart of London and built out our Sales, Product, Marketing, Data, Tech and Customer Success functions to better serve our diverse clients.

kleene Breakthrough

Our breakthrough technology, automating the data analytics infrastructure, creates the fastest way for businesses to leverage data in decision-making. My past experience (and that of my co-founders) led to the creation of kleene.

kleene was born from the repeated data problems myself, Matt and Ben encountered at Just Eat, Trainline and Not On The High Street. We set out on a mission to solve the “data problem”.  In our experience, too much time was spent on the collection, cleansing and organising of data. The boring part. What’s more, large and expensive teams of data professionals were carrying out this work, which isn’t where real value is driven to the business. 

We wanted to make it easy for businesses to access insight without working on the data prep. To remove the data drudgery. To level the playing field. When all of the value is in the analysis, why is so much time and money spent on the plumbing? 

We decided to solve the problem by building an all-in-one, no-code platform that helps business leaders generate value from data, without the need for expensive data teams. We wanted to democratise data. And so kleene was born. 

My co-founder, Matt, told the story of the kleene journey when we closed our seed funding. Now at Series A, we continue in our work to level the playing field, with sights set on global scale. The investment will help us further enhance our product, grow our team and help more businesses harness their data. Our funding will accelerate expansion in the U.S and strengthen our team to continue advancing the development of kleene.
